Control of Chaotic Systems using Fuzzy Model-Based Regulators

Background Recently, development of chaos theory brings up scientist into a new era in analyzing nonlinear systems. It is known that the chaos exhibits a deterministic random behavior. In particular, the OGY (OttGrebogi-Yorke) method drove the research of chaos control to nonlinear analyst. Yet it needs more investigation on such nonlinear systems in designing control algorithms. Recently, Vincent proposed a hybrid (or two-stage) approach to control a chaos: in open-loop system, generate a chaotic motion for the system to move into a controllable region; then, switch a close-loop control to reach the target. In this hybrid approach, we have to find a largest V(x)<Vmax estimated for the domain of attraction for the feedback control law, where V is a Lyapunov function. However, this optimization problem will generally have multiple local minima.
